Event Description

Thursday, December 19 and Friday, December 20 at 7:30 PM: Carols in the Organ Loft

Join us for an exclusive gathering in the loft of the historic 1868 Henry Erben pipe organ, for festive seasonal carols and an organ demonstration. Cozy small-group atmosphere. Sing with the historic 19th-century sounds of the landmark 1868 Henry Erben pipe organ, in the fantastic acoustic space of the Basilica, with its 200-year-long history of great music. See a magnificent American treasure, the Erben organ, up close and experience history come to life. Festive refreshments will be on hand to delight all the senses.

Please note: this event requires the ability to climb stairs.

One of the historic carols we will sing is "O Little Town of Bethlehem", which was written in 1868, the same year as the Henry Erben organ was built!

Climb up into the organ loft to sing carols from the Victorian era with us and see the incredible Henry Erben pipe organ up-close.

This event is organized by Friends of the Erben Organ.

The Friends of the Erben Organ (“FREO”) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed in 2017 and dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and presentation of the 1868 Henry Erben pipe organ, and building a community of music and education around it. FREO organizes recitals and concerts, a summer music experience for kids and families, and educational programs for people of all ages. FREO also gives tours of the organ to people from all over the world throughout the year.
