| TUESDAY, OCTOBER 29 – 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm Day of the Dead, Sugar Skull 16”x20” The Dia’ de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, on November 1 and 2nd, is a Latin American joyous celebration of life and death; a demonstration of love and respect for family members. Calaveras, or skulls, are commonly seen in colorful parades and celebrations. Coinciding with this rich cultural tradition is the Fall migration of the Monarch mariposas, traveling south as much a 2,000 plus miles from as far North as Canada to the remote forested mountains of Central Mexico where they will overwinter. The Monarchs represent the souls of departed ancestors, returning for their annual visit. |
