Event Description
(1933) dir Victor Fleming w/Jean Harlow, Lee Tracy, Frank Morgan, Franchot Tone, Pat O’Brien, Una Merkel; Margaret Booth ed [96 min; 35mm]
Margaret Booth was a film cutter who began her career with D.W. Griffith and then went to work for Louis B. Mayer, eventually becoming Editor-in-Chief at MGM in 1939. Supposedly, she was the first person ever referred to as a ‘film editor.’ In this hilarious send-up of Golden Age Hollywood, Harlow plays a version of herself – or perhaps almost any actress of the time – who is desperate to shed her floozy image.
