Ironically for someone who would go on to become one of Columbia’s biggest starts, Hayworth found some of her first successes in films that she was loaned out for. In the Fox production BLOOD AND SAND, Hayworth plays the sultry socialite who tempts bullfighting star Tyrone Power from the bosom of his family and into her decadent lifestyle – and, ultimately, to his downfall. Shot in Technicolor, this was the first opportunity for audiences to see Rita’s famously fiery red hair in motion on screen.
