BFF 2021 presents Walter ‘Wally’ Dalton’s BALLOONS – a First Look

Santa Monica Playhouse has been a cultural treasure in the seaside community for 61 years. Now, the Playhouse is giving love back with its Sixth Annual Binge Free Festival (BFF), a full month of free performances, workshops, readings, music and poetry in Santa Monica’s ONLY fringe festival. What’s on today?

Liz Lawrence is a talented but struggling actress who has to keep her day job to pay both her bills and support her pompous lazy husband. She runs Balloons, a party-specialty shop where clowns, sky-divers and roller-skating babes all do balloon tricks. A Fox sitcom pilot is being considered for the lead. When the play opens LIZ is preparing for her 6th callback. Her lazy husband JEREMY is trying to get on board as the director.

RILEY MCKAY an older TV writer is also curious to see if there’s any gigs available when he meets REBBECCA BERNSTEIN, the young, hot Balloons Roller Blader he tries to convince her to be his writing partner or better yet...his sex partner! In the meantime, CARY CLARK, the owner of BALLOONS is madly in love with a young surfer dude...PETER FOX...She hasn’t left the back room for days. When she does venture out of her sex-cave, the first thing she hears is JEREMY making a date with his mistress...

Oh Oh this can’t be good! Join us for the comedy adventures of our show-biz hopefuls and see what happens at BALLOONS...where the fun never starts!

An ensemble comedy by performer/playwright Walter ‘Wally’ Dalton (over 70 credits including the current motion picture East of the Mountains) feature Seattle-based Dalton and an ensemble of LA actors.

Binge Free Festival 2021 is presented through generous grants from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture, the City of Santa Monica, the Santa Monica Arts Commission, and Playhouse PALS.
