Event Description

Speaking in Your Own Voice
with Rob Belushi

Improv on stage can be freeing, we can find realms and characters that are far away from the everyday and allow us to to experiment with the outrageous.  But sometimes the greater risk is playing ourselves, speaking and responding in our own voices. In this workshop, we will look to pare back what is possible, to what is believable--so that our scenes are recognizable to ourselves and our audiences as the world that we actually inhabit everyday.  We will still inhabit character, but we will view it in terms of attitude, emotional state, subtext and want, so that our characters are grounded and come from within an authentic place. Part of our job is to show what's possible, and part of our job is to live life on stage--so we will be focusing on finding that. When we can do it, we can take our audience even further into the weird, dark, psychotic underbelly of our narcissistic need! Like hostages.

$50 per person ($40 Early Bird ends May 31 @ midnight)
