In celebration of acclaimed novelist Jim Shepard’s first non-fiction title, we’re pleased to present the author to discuss this landmark film by Terrence Malick. While an award-winning author of fiction, Shepard also teaches film at Williams College and now he is releasing his first collection of cinema essays, The Tunnel at the End of the Light: Essays on Movies & Politics, on Tin House Books this fall. Shepard brings his signature humor, insight, and eloquence to bear on classic movies, deconstructing the American psyche in the process.
