In celebration of National Autism Awareness Month, The Hermitage will host its first annual Autism Awareness Night with exclusive after-hours admission to all families with members on the Autism Spectrum or anyone with ANY special need (developmental or physical). Held in partnership with the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center’s Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD), guests will enjoy sensory-friendly tours of the Mansion and full access to the museum, historic buildings and over 1,100 acres of grounds and trails. Hands-on history activities will be featured around the site, including 19th-century lawn games, safe spaces to meet sheep and horses, try your hand at spring plowing, and trading supplies in Jackson’s General Store. Discounted General Admission will be offered: $16.00 Adults; $11.00 High school and college students; $8.00 Students through 8th grade; Age Five & Under FREE.
New planning materials including visual schedules, maps with quiet areas, and social stories will also debut on April 1 for download at www.thehermitage.com.
