A Summer Evening in Old Allegheny

It’s a home and garden tour – with guided wine sampling! Guests will spend a summer weekend visiting some of the most lavishly landscaped and decorated spaces in the Allegheny West Historic District of Pittsburgh’s Northside.

Celebrate 'Ground to Glass' from the Central Coast

Join with your friends in Allegheny West to celebrate the award winning wines of California’s Central Coast. The 2018 walking tour features wines from California’s Paso Robles region as well food pairings inspired by the beautiful locale. We also added a Showcase wine event this year to celebrate the wines and achievements of Gary Eberle.

Walking Tour

Friday, June 22 @ 5:00pm ~ 9:00pm   |   Saturday, June 23 @ 1:00pm ~ 5:00pm  OR  5:00pm  – 9:00pm   |   $75

As you explore the Allegheny West Historic District on Pittsburgh’s North Side, each home or garden on the tour will provide a unique setting for guests to enjoy a wine and appetizer pairing. The guided tour starts at historic Holmes Hall and by the end guests will have visited six additional homes, gardens or other historic structures and enjoyed a delightful variety of wines and specialty foods chosen just for this event.

Each of the three walking tours are broken up into groups of 15.  If members of your group have purchased tickets in a separate transaction please let us know. On your checkout page you with have a chance to list the the name(s) under which the other members of your group purchased tickets.  Tickets purchased in the same transaction will automatically be included in the same group. Walking tours begin at either 1:00pm or 5:00pm.

New this year! “Ground to Glass” Showcase featuring Eberle Wines at Holmes Hall

Postponed!  New Date:  Saturday, Sept 15 @ 7:00pm – 9:30pm   |   1 for $115, 2 for $200

Join us for an intimate event in the grand Holmes Hall Ballroom to learn more about Gary Eberle, “The Pioneer of Paso Robles Wines” while enjoying an exclusive tasting of four Eberle wines with catered pairings. Gary Eberle grew up in Coraopolis, attended Penn State and became a driving force in developing the Paso Robles wine region. This event will be led by a sommelier imparting the influences from the ground to your glass.  This is a separate event from the walking tour and does not include visiting the other homes. It is a total wine experience in an exceptional home.

To be notified when tickets go on sale please sign up for our mailing list here.

The walking tour takes place over approximately 6 square blocks of our neighborhood and many of the private houses have steps that must be negotiated so please plan accordingly. Holmes Hall, the site of the Showcase wine event, is a private home and is accessed by approximately 10 steps. The tour happens rain or shine and will not be canceled for weather. If you have questions the accessibility/suitability of the tour for members of your group please contact our volunteers at tours@alleghenywest.org or (412) 444-8687 before purchasing tickets.

For each walking tour time everyone will be broken up into 6 groups who will be touring at the same time. We will automatically put everyone who purchased tickets in the same Showclix order in the same group.  If some members of your group are purchasing tickets in separate transactions, please let us know at the time of checkout if there are other people in your party who have separate ticket orders but would like to be in the same group. The Showcase wine event is a single seating.
