A Tour & Tasting in Old Allegheny

A Summer Tour and Tasting in Old Allegheny

Friday, June 26 @ 5:00pm ~ 9:00pm   |   Saturday, June 27 @ 1:00pm ~ 5:00pm OR  5:00pm ~ 9:00pm

Tickets $125   |   Must be 21 years old

The Allegheny West Civic Council (AWCC) is thrilled to welcome guests again to tour the homes and gardens of Pittsburgh’s smallest neighborhood. The Tour & Tasting is a docent-led walking tour of six historic properties. At each location guests will enjoy a unique food and wine experience surrounded by lovingly restored homes and gorgeous garden spaces. Tickets are limited and they sell out quickly, so purchase early!

For each walking tour-time everyone will be split up into 5 or 6 groups of 15-18 people, which will tour at the same time but starting at different houses, leaving Holmes Hall at staggered 5-minute intervals. Doors will open at 12:30pm on Saturday afternoon, and the smaller groups will start leaving Holmes Hall at 1:30pm, so please plan to arrive no later than 1:20pm.  On Friday and Saturday evening, the doors at Holmes Hall will open at 4:30pm, and smaller groups will begin leaving Holmes Hall at 5:30pm so please plan to arrive no later than 5:10 pm.

Continue to check the website for participating sponsors.

We apologize, we are unable to customize food and wine pairings.

Accessibility

The walking tour takes place over approximately 6 square blocks of our neighborhood and many of the private houses have steps that must be negotiated so please plan accordingly. Holmes Hall, at the start of the tour, is a private home and is accessed by approximately 10 steps. The tour happens rain or shine and will not be canceled for weather. If you have questions the accessibility/suitability of the tour for members of your group, please contact our volunteers at tours@alleghenywest.org before purchasing tickets.

Groups

For each walking tour-time everyone will be split up into 5 or 6 groups of 15-18 people, which will tour at the same time but starting at different houses, leaving Holmes Hall at staggered 5-minute intervals. We will automatically put everyone who purchased tickets in the same Showclix transaction into the same smaller group. If some members of your group have purchased tickets in a separate transaction, please let us know at the time of checkout if your group should be grouped with other people purchasing tickets.

New! Prepurchase Your Raffle Tickets!

Price: $10 or 3/$20 for Regular tickets  |  $20 for a Grand Prize ticket

This year you can prepurchase your raffle tickets!  Like previous years, the raffle options will include wine from the tour, additional contributions from neighbors and local merchants, and tickets to this year's Old Allegheny Victorian Christmas House Tour (which sold out in 2 days last year!). You can still purchase tickets on the day of the tour!  If you prepurchase tickets, please be sure to check in at the raffle table at Holmes Hall before the start of the tour so you can choose how your tickets will be allocated. If you don’t stop by the raffle table before the tour we will randomly allocate your tickets to any of the raffles that you are eligible for.

Allegheny City, now Allegheny West, was once the home of “Millionaire’s Row”, one of the most prestigious addresses in the country. Through dedicated residents, hard work and proceeds from events like “Tour & Tasting” the AWCC contributes to projects preserving our history and significant structures.

Thank you for helping to support the community programs of the Allegheny West Civic Council. More information about the historic homes of Allegheny West can be found here.
