Event Description

Calling all K–12 classroom teachers! Come learn about an exciting new initiative exploring how MoMA’s collection and teaching methodology can support students’ social emotional learning. Join us for an onsite workshop where we will explore the current landscape of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in local schools, engage mindfully with art, and share concrete tips to help teachers develop strategies for their own self-care.

The workshop program will include:

  • A keynote address from an NYC public school principal who has implemented a comprehensive SEL and mindfulness program in and outside of school

  • A panel discussion with representatives from museums, schools, and the parent community, focusing on the ways that art and museums support this type of learning and interaction

  • Three different gallery workshops in MoMA’s newly expanded galleries that explore how art, art making, and conversation support and align with SEL

  • A self-care workshop led by professionals from the NYC DOE Office of Social Work that will give teachers (you!) strategies to support teacher wellness

$75 per person. Optional coffee reception, 8:00–8:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided, but we cannot accommodate dietary restrictions.
