LIVE from NYPL presents its first in a new series of monthly happy hours on the brand new terrace atop the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library (SNFL). Drop in on select Fridays for drinks, mingling, and crafts, as well as a short selection of curated readings.


April is National Poetry Month, and for our first happy hour, we are proud to partner with Latinx in Publishing, who have invited three New York poets, Haydil Henriquez, Grisel Acosta, and Vincent Toro. Come for a drink and the amazing view, stay to discover some new writing!


Join us at any point between 5:30-7:30 PM. Poetry readings will begin at about 6:15 PM.


Co-presented with Latinx in Publishing, a network of book professionals committed to supporting and increasing the number of Latino/a/x in the publishing industry, as well as promoting literature by, for, and about Latino/a/x people.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS


Haydil Henriquez is an arts educator, cultural advocate, youth development program manager and Bronx-bred poet. Her poetry explores the juxtaposition of collective memory and black erasure while creating a platform for a voice in its most transnational nature. In 2021, Henriquez was honored to be recognized as the inaugural Bronx Poet Laureate.


Dr. Grisel Y. Acosta She is the Creative Writing Editor at Chicana/Latina Studies Journal. Her first book of poetry, Things to Pack on the Way to Everywhere (Get Fresh Books, 2021), was a 2020 finalist for the Andrés Montoya Poetry Prize. Her poetry, short fiction, articles, and essays are published widely.


Vincent Toro is the author of Tertulia and Stereo.Island.Mosaic., which received the Poetry Society of America’s Norma Farber First Book award.” He is an Assistant Professor of English at Rider University, contributing editor at Kweli Literary Journal, and a Dodge Foundation poet.
