An American Dream

Our season of great American music opens with composers Charles Ives and John Williams.  Ives’ iconic The Unanswered Question ponders the question of existence: in contemplating the sublime mystery of creation, a question can be better than and answer.  Williams’ “The Five Sacred Trees” is a naturalist, contemporary musical gem, taking inspiration from ancient Celtic mythology.  William’s boisterous The Cowboys Overture instantly conjures up images of the Old American West.
