Event Description
A Living Tribute Concert for Brooke Sharpe Millecchia
From Matt Millecchia (Mechanism 101):
Brooke Sharpe Millecchia is an alumni of WVU Ceramics, a former bartender at the Nyabinghi (123 Pleasant Street circa 1990's), a beloved member of the Morgantown music and arts scene, a loving wife of 25 years to me, and a mother to our 2 grown boys, Zane and Will. Brooke was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer three years ago. She was treated and the tumor was surgically removed, but the cancer returned last January and she was reclassified as Stage 4. Chemotherapy went exceptionally well last year, and by October, there were no detectable tumors. But, in January of this year, the tumor had once again returned. She restarted chemotherapy, but this year, the tumor continues to grow despite all efforts. She is now considered terminal with a prognosis under a year.
We have decided to put on a Living Tribute Concert for her to enjoy live music and celebrate her life with all of her friends and family at 123 Pleasant Street. There will be as many of her favorite local acts playing that we can fit in a day, and people have been pouring out love and support to get it going.
As Brooke is also a quite accomplished and recognized ceramic artist, she will be showing a historical tour of her work from the 90s at WVU to present day in the new gallery adjacent to 123 Pleasant Street. We will be asking for people to bring pottery that they have purchased or received to display during the event. Please contact LJ or me for details if you would like to display any work you have of hers.
I really hope you can all make it and please spread the word to everyone who knows and loves Brooke to support her, our 2 sons, and me at what I'm sure will be an unforgettable event full of great music, art, love, laughter, and tears.
Love to all, and thank you so much for all of your support,
Matt
