Special Reading: The Wild Robot with Peter Brown & Lupita Nyong'o

Join The New York Public Library, author Peter Brown, and Academy Award–winning actress Lupita Nyong'o for a very special reading of The Wild Robot!

The Wild Robot, the first in a series of books by Peter Brown, tells the story of Roz, a robot that's shipwrecked on a remote island and must learn to survive in the wilderness. It was featured in the Library's Best Books for Kids list in 2016. A movie adaptation from DreamWorks Animation is scheduled for release in the United States on September 27, 2024, starring Lupita Nyong'o as Roz.

Recommended for ages 8+.

Entry is strictly limited to registered guests.

To join the event in person | Doors will open 30 minutes before the program begins. Preregistration is required for attendance.

For free events, we generally overbook to ensure a full house. Priority will be given to those who have registered in advance, but registration does not guarantee admission. All registered seats are released shortly before start time, and seats may become available at that time. 

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Lupita Nyong’o is an Academy Award–winning Mexican-Kenyan actress and film director. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 2014 for her performance in 12 Years a Slave. Additionally, Nyong'o has been featured in the films Star Wars: The Force Awakens and the live-action version of The Jungle Book. In 2015, Nyong'o was nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in the critically acclaimed Broadway play Eclipsed.
