The Virginian

The N.C. Transportation Museum & The Virginia Museum of Transportation host a round trip, full day from Spencer, NC to Lynchburg, VA., powered by the N&W Class J #611. This is the third season of the #611 train rides following the locomotive's year-long renovation in the North Carolina Transportation Museums Bob Julian Roundhouse.

Arriving in Lynchburg, passengers will enjoy the historic downtown area, with unique shops, sites, arts, cultural venues, and more. The Lynchburg Community Market, the third oldest Farmer's Market in the country, will be available. Restaurants are also located nearby, but dining options may be limited.

Passengers can enjoy a walk through the city's historic districts, or enjoy a stroll through Civil War historic sites in this one-time capital of the confederacy. Passengers can also choose to take in the sights and shops that sell art, antiques, and more.

It is a great opportunity to experience a historic destination, but also to travel in style behind a genuine 1950's era steam locomotive, an engine that represents the height of steam powered engineering. Join us for an amazing experience with the Class J #611
