Event Description

When Tom Wolfe’s The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test first came out in 1968, chronicling the burgeoning counterculture, it unleashed a new literary genre: New Journalism. Half a century later, TASCHEN releases an abridgment of the text, with photographs and ephemera from the era. In celebration, LIVE welcomes Wolfe in reflection on his seminal work.

Tom Wolfe, a 1981 Literary Lion, is the author of a dozen books, among them such contemporary classics as The Bonfire of the Vanities, The Right Stuff, and I Am Charlotte Simmons. An illustrated letterpress edition of his 1968 book The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test will be published by TASCHEN this fall. He lives in New York City.
