Event Description
A Carolina Food Summit + East Meets West Dinner

TerraVita is partnering with the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation (www.jamiekirkhahnfoundation.org; @JamieKirkHahn) to kick-off an inaugural day-and-a-half symposium – A Carolina Food Summit - on Sept. 28. We will begin on Wednesday afternoon for the kick-off, then conclude by dinner time.

The kick-off for A Carolina Food Summit will be followed by an annual TerraVita favorite, The Carolina Table: East Meets West dinner. East Meets West pulls chefs together from the coast to the mountains of our great state. This dinner has always had a wonderful community ambiance and is always the first event to sell out.

Participating chefs include:

  • Pastry Chef Lydia Clopton of PinPoint in Wilmington

  • Pastry Chef Phoebe Lawless of Scratch in Durham

  • Chef Clark Barlowe of Heirloom in Charlotte

  • Chef Bruce Moffett of the Moffett Restaurant Group, including Barrington's, Stagioni, and Good Food on Montford in Charlotte

  • Chef Ricky Moore of Saltbox Seafood in Durham

  • Chef Josh Munchel of Counting House at 21C in Durham

  • Chef Dean Neff of PinPoint in Wilmington

  • Chef Ashley Van Camp of Ashten's in Southern Pines

  • Chef Matt Butler of The Great Room in Chapel Hill

The second day will begin at 9 am at a farm on the edge of Chapel Hill. Speakers will include James Beard-winning author Toni Tipton-Martin, and chefs Scott Crawford and Clark Barlowe, among others. Coffee, light breakfast, snacks and lunch will be provided on Thursday during this all-day experience. The Summit will end with fellowship and cocktails by 4 pm.
