Event Description
The Fire-Up Experience: STEAM 102

Come and fire-up N&W J Class 611. Enjoy a delicious breakfast. Spend the day with Scott Lindsay, Chief Mechanical Officer, Cheri George, Fireman and “Bud” Jeffries, Historian. Presentations and question and answer sessions will occur throughout the day. Once there is enough steam pressure, participants will get to blow 611’s whistle later in the day. There may be a few surprises along the way, so plan to spend your day with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Official Steam Engine.

Participants will receive firing manual and diagram of a 4-6-4 or Hudson type steam engine. Participants
are to arrive at 6:30am and class lasts until 4pm. Fire up of the engine will occur at 7am.

$150 per participant. Lunch is optional for $12 on registration form.

Must be 14 and up.

Pre-registration required. Closed toed shoes and long pants required.
