Premiere Unscripted Musical Comedy

Premiere will bring back its signature style of unscripted musical comedy to The Oaks Theater in Oakmont on Saturday, July 11th 2015 at 8:00pm.

Premiere creates a full two-act musical from scratch at every show. Fueled by a few basic ideas gathered from the audience, the wonderfully talented cast and crew weave together music, comedy, and story into a wholly original and once-in-a-lifetime show. Every aspect of the show is improvised on the spot by the cast, the instrumentalists, and the crew. Every word, every note, and every spotlight is spontaneous and unscripted. Every show is a world premiere.

The team behind Premiere features many local all-stars from popular improv shows, like Wünderstudies, The LuPones, and Your Life: The Musical. This super-group came together with the vision of making musical improv even bigger and even better, empowered by the re-opening of the new-and-improved Oaks Theater in Oakmont.

“We have been improvising musicals together for years, but always on a fairly small scale in little comedy theaters around town,” said producer Brett Bavar. “I always wanted to do something bigger and more spectacular, but never expected to find the right local venue, until I stepped inside The Oaks. It was love at first sight.”

The show has been developed in close partnership with Joe Wichryk II, manager of The Oaks Theater. “Premiere is one of the most ambitious theatrical undertakings that I have seen,” said Wichryk. “It not only raises the bar for improvised comedy. It surpasses any and all expectations.”

Premiere debuted earlier this year, on a cold wintry night in February. While many locals were in their homes keeping warm, the cast of Premiere was spinning tales of elementary school mafia and aimless ex-presidents. All this with plenty of song and dance of course, which also turns out to be a great way to keep warm.
