A gentle little comedy involving a struggling middle-aged widow from a struggling coal town somewhere in Pennsylvania. Muriel longs to be an artist but must work as a waitress to support herself and her teen aged daughter, Amanda. Amanda compensates for a lack of a father by supplying herself with an elegant and attractive imaginary friend, Randolph, who is always decked out in an impeccable white suit. Together through hilarious subterfuge they manage to sabotage any romance Muriel may have until one, Warren, an ordinary but most worthy, mailman gets the better of them.
