Rhapsody
In 1924, Katharine “Kay” Swift and her husband attended a concert featuring “Rhapsody in Blue,” by a young musical genius, George Gershwin. Kay and George’s ten-year love affair, complicated by her conflicted loyalty to her husband, ended only with Gershwin’s death from a brain tumor at the age of thirty-eight.
Followed, at 1:45pm, by a concert from the Wind Symphony of South Jersey, conducted by Dr. Robert J. Streckfuss, performing music of George Gershwin and his contemporaries.
