Event Description

Medora is the story of a dwindling town in rural Indiana and its resilient high-school basketball team. Think Hoop Dreams meets Gummo, or a real-life, modern-day Hoosiers. A link to the New York Times piece about the town and the team is below, and here's the official site:

Directed by Andrew Cohn and Found Magazine's Davy Rothbart, the film's Executive Producers are the actors Steve Buscemi and Stanley Tucci, along with Big Beach Films (Little Miss Sunshine, Safety Not Guaranteed, The Kings of Summer, etc.) We premiered at SXSW Film Festival in March, and have swept the awards at many other festivals the past few months; the film will be broadcast next spring on PBS' acclaimed Independent Lens doc series. The film has amassed some generous praise from Time Magazine, The Onion's A.V. Club, and many others, and getting an absolutely amazing response from festival audiences, drawing comparisons to 2011's Oscar-winning documentary Undefeated.
