Event Description
The Marquee on Main Street & Out of Print

Join the Hollywood Theater and representatives from other area cinemas such as the Denis Theatre Foundation and the Village Theatre Company for a special presentation of two films: The Marquee on Main Street by Chester Lampman, and Out of Print by Julia Marchese.

The Marquee on Main Street is the debut documentary by independent filmmaker Chester Lampman that explores the historic single screen cinema experience. Weaving a story of rediscovery with profiles of several independent neighborhood movie theaters (including the Hollywood, The Oaks, and The Strand), the film celebrates their histories, examines their challenges, and highlights the people that keep them going. All in an effort to prove that these often overlooked community treasures still have much to offer the movie going public. After all, one screen is all you really need.

Out of Print celebrates the unique revival and single screen theaters around the world that are passionate about film - and 35mm - and explores why 35mm and digital should be allowed to co-exist forever. Focusing mainly on Quentin Tarantino's New Beverly Cinema in Hollywood, but branching out to theaters all over the world, the film includes interviews with: Edgar Wright, Kevin Smith, Joe Dante, Rian Johnson, Mark Romanek, Stuart Gordon, Joe Carnahan, John Landis, Patton Oswalt, Fred Dekker, Tom Holland, Seth Green, Richard Kelly and more.

Admission will be "name your own price," with proceeds to go the Friends of Ambridge Family Theatre fund to help in their mission to reopen.  Doors will open at 6pm for a cocktail hour, with the program starting at 7pm.
