Gestalt theory. It's a familiar idea. The whole being other, and hopefully greater, than the sum of its parts.
This is the game hunted by Lone Wolf Club.
An amorphous group of musicians that strive to make music more that just melody, harmony and rhythm. The group, which tends to operate more as a collective, has made a small nest in Pittsburgh. Combining some of the rootsy and barren flavor of old blues and bluegrass, even some tastes of classical, with arrangements that evoke a more complex sound LWC seems to exist somewhere in a pub where Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens and Radiohead sit down for drinks and discuss what they've done wrong and what they can do better, perhaps with Chopin and Debussy listening in and offering a shoulder to cry on.
In optimum form LWC takes the stage as a sextet blending these various influences to bring something to audiences that is music worth actively listening to but also an atmosphere and an experience that seeks to coax an audience to join this particular club.
With a songwriting style that comes from an individualistic heart but an ultimate sound that requires a community to create an atmosphere Lone Wolf Club is an experience that you can be a part of and not simply a witness to.
