The tide rolls in at Malibu as two dying men trapped in a wrecked car- a cynical newspaper editor (Lee Tracy) and his former reporter turned private eye (Don Castle) contemplate how they arrived at their shared fate. An emblematic, post war film noir directed by John Reinhardt has all the trimmings: lust, larceny and fatalism amid Los Angeles locations. A Film Noir Foundation funded restoration by the UCLA Film and Television Archive that was completed earlier this year. NOT ON DVD
