BOBBY KEYS & THE SUFFERING BASTARDS

Rock-n-roll saxophone legend and longtime Rolling Stones collaborator, Bobby Keys makes a rare small venue stop in Buffalo at Nietzsche’s in Allentown with his all- star band, the Sufferin Bastards on Saturday, October 20th, 2012 at 9pm.

Bobby Keys started touring at the age of fifteen with Bobby Vee and and fellow Texan and rock legend, Buddy Holly. Bobby is best known though as being the main saxophone player for The Rolling Stones, playing on every album from 1969 until 1974, and from 1980 to present, and performing on all Stones tours since 1970. Being born the same day as Keith Richards, he is known know for his sax leads on many Stones hits and also known as the man who was filmed with Keith throwing a television set from the 10th floor of a hotel somewhere during the 1972 American Tour, as seen in the Stones' unreleased 1972 concert movie Cocksucker Blues and remains close with Keith today.

He has worked, played and partied with some of rock 'n' roll's most important figures like such greats as John Lennon w/the Plastic Ono, Elvis Presley, The Who, Harry Nilsson, Delaney Bramlett, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow and Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen to name a few. Additionally, Keys took part in the last known recording session between Paul McCartney and Lennon; A Toot and a Snore in '74

The Suffering Bastards are no run of the mill band either. With Dan Baird, guitarist/ founder of the Georgia Satellites and Brad Pemberton from Ryan Adams & The Cardinals on drums along with Robert Kearns (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Poco keyboardist Michael Webb and guitarist Chark Von Kinsolving, this is not just your average touring band but a group of pros, backing a man they know is responsible for some of the most revered sax lines in rock history.

Joining the evening as support is Buffalo’s own longtime and much respected rock n roller, Geno McManus and special guests for an intimate set up front.
