A Love Supreme

A Love Supreme combines classical music with jazz and soul.  Inspired by John Coltrane’s melding of bee bop and free jazz, and influenced by a legacy of black women in classical music, Groove Aesthetic takes the audience on a journey through love, death, and womanhood.  Explore the works of Dorothy Rudd Moore, Florence Price, and new music by Anqwenique with visual art by Julie Mallis.

About Anqwenique and Julie Mallis

Anqwenique is an extremely versatile vocalist and also the founder and director of Groove Aesthetic, a Pittsburgh-based artist collective.

Julie Mallis uses projection mapping of animated environments, video art, and collaged internet artifacts to curate live visual experiences that respond to music.

About the CSA

The New Hazlett CSA, the first and only performance series of its kind, introduces you to the freshest, most original artists in the Pittsburgh area.  Since the seeds were first planted in 2013, the New Hazlett Theater CSA Performance Series has brought over 100 new and emerging artists to the stage. From dance to music, original plays to experimental animation, our CSA pushes the boundaries of performance at every show.
