The documentary, publicly screened for the first time in many years, goes where news cameras didn’t to follow New Yorkers in the immediate aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Directed by Steven Rosenbaum, 7 Days in September draws on footage from 27 filmmakers—ranging from professionals to amateurs—to offer a ground-level view of the emotional, physical, and civic response to unimaginable tragedy. From a firefighter’s wife to a Muslim-American woman to an 11-year-old boy, the film captures the raw, unfiltered experiences of New Yorkers as their worlds are being forever changed.
The screening will be followed by a conversation with Rosenbaum, the film's co-producer Pamela Yoder, and historian Kenneth T. Jackson.
A recording of the talkback will be available on the NYPL event page after the event.
To join the event in person | Doors will open 30 minutes before the program begins. For LIVE from NYPL events, we generally overbook to ensure a full house.
