Event Description

Bestselling author Jami Attenberg will read from her book, 1000 Words: A Writer's Guide to Staying Creative, Focused, and Productive All Year Round, and lead participants in a group write-along paired with writing prompts, followed by a Q&A and book signing.


Inspired by the author’s wildly popular literary movement #1000WordsofSummer, this writer’s guide features encouraging essays on creativity, productivity, and writing from acclaimed authors including Roxane Gay, Lauren Groff, Celeste Ng, Meg Wolitzer, and Carmen Maria Machado.


This event will take place in person at Hudson Park Library and via Zoom.


To join in person | Please be sure to register for an In-Person Ticket. Doors will open 30 minutes before the program begins. For free events, we generally overbook to ensure a full house. Priority will be given to those who have registered in advance, but registration does not guarantee admission. If you register for multiple tickets, please provide the name of each person who will be attending the event or arrive with your entire party present. Only registered patrons will be granted entry into the event space. All registered seats are released shortly before start time, and seats may become available at that time. A standby line will form 30 minutes before the program.


To join the livestreamThe event will be livestreamed via Zoom. The Zoom login information will be emailed to registered participants the morning of the event. To receive the Zoom login information, please be sure to register!


COVID PROTOCOLS FOR IN-PERSON PROGRAMS


If you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or suspect you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, please stay home.


ACCESSIBILITY


In-Person | Assistive listening devices and/or hearing loops are available upon request by emailing hudsonpark@nypl.org at least two weeks in advance of the event. This venue is not fully accessible to wheelchairs.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR


Jami Attenberg is a New York Times bestselling author of seven books of fiction, including The Middlesteins and All Grown Up, the memoir, I Came All This Way to Meet You, and, most recently, the USA Today bestselling writing guide 1000 WORDS. She is also the founder of the annual #1000WordsofSummer project, and maintains the popular Craft Talk newsletter year-round. In September, a new novel, A Reason to See You Again, will be released. Her work has been published in sixteen languages.
