“Rockin’ Against Cancer!” A day of music to support the 11 Day Power Play.

The 11 Day Power Play is the brainchild of Mike and Amy Lesakowski. Amy is a cancer survivor and Mike lost his mother to the disease. In 2017 they organized an 11 day hockey marathon to set a world record for the longest game and to raise money for Roswell Park and other cancer support agencies.

40 players went head to head for 11 days and set a new world record, and raised more than $1 million in the process. Since then, the dynamic duo has expanded the annual event into what they call “The Community Shift” which is where they get groups to sign up for 3 hour shifts over 11 days of hockey and raise funds along the way.

Now, 8 years later, the 11 Day Power Play has raised more than $10 million, of that $6 million has gone directly into Roswell research and wellness programs. The rest has gone to other beneficiaries, Camp Good Days (670 kids sent to camp) Make-A-Wish (230 wishes grants, and counting) and Oishie Children’s Hospital’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Program.
