PEEKABOO REVUE

The Peek-A-Boo Revue presents Fatal Follies, their most dangerous burlesque show ever!

Join the lethal ladies and mortiferous men of the Peek-A-Boo Revue for one treacherous show you won't want to miss! If seduction and deceit excite you, then be prepared for your most wanton dreams to come true. Evil agents, salacious sleuths, and a pack of wild and untamed cannibals abound in this burlesque flight of fancy. You can dare to escape from their booby traps, but then again, why would you? While the guys and gals entertain you with their swaying hips and cheap tricks, the Striptease Orchestra will provide the soundtrack to this crazed cabaret. The Peek-A-Boo Revue's Fatal Follies is a burly-q thrill ride like never before!

---

Since 1998, in Philadelphia PA, one troupe has kept the spirit of cabaret, burlesque and all-around "showbizzy-ness" alive by presenting a new show each month — The Peek-A-Boo Revue! An adults-only pastiche of singing, dancing, and comedy all wrapped up in a Burlesque Show!

Starting humbly in The Five Spot niteclub as a variety show created by the owner Phil Cohen, who also sheparded the group as its producer and staunchest ally, the show grew rapidly. What started as a Wed. evening affair would blossom into 2 shows every 1st Sat. A show freshly-minted EACH Month!

The group would eventually 'morph' into a tight-knit cast of friends, an ensemble of men and women capable of almost anything onstage (and sometimes even offstage). The group (dubbed as a 'neo-burlesque' troupe) has performed for a wide-range of audiences over the years, and been attached to many high-profile events, festivals and causes (willing to attach the 'edgy' elements of burlesque) including:

The Cartoon Network's ADULT SWIM Fan Picture Show
Cartoon Network's Adult Swim 4 your lives(part of the Festival of Independents)
The Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Film Festivals
Cirque de Soleil's post-premiere party (2002 and 2004)
The Philadelphia Fringe Festival – Late Night Cabaret

They also have hosted dozens of well-established burlesque and cabaret artists, who have given them the pleasure (and honor) of appearing in a Peek-A-Boo Revue show! The Peek-A-Boo Revue is proud to now call many of these guests – friends.

It has been a remarkable run, but sadly, in February 2007, they were witnesses to the loss of their home – The Five Spot – to a fire. While much of the items lost were of sentimental value, the true legacy of The Five Spot, and its support of creative diversity, and the nuturing of talent, lives on (via) the Peekaboo Revues' continuation.

While not attaching (exclusively) to any singular club or theatre, the group continues to perform in Philly, with venues such as – The Tin Angel, which has played host to a modified Peek-A-Boo-Heavy cast (titled 'Funny Farm') as well as The Palace of Wonders (in Washington DC) which is an astonishing museum and bar, showcasing artifacts of sideshow history, in fact the Palace boasted a monthly showcase for the group for a seven (7) month run! The group has been also booked for the annual Philadelphia Fringe Cabaret for the past 9 years, and currently working on a brand-spankin' new shows for a February 2008 show! With VERY special guests!

While no single venue can replace what the 5 Spot was (the groups membership of 15 prohibits most large-scale productions) the troupe presses on, adhering to 'the show must go on' far more literally than sane folk would. Thanks to every single one of you who have supported the group during this extremely challenging time. It truly means the world to us.
