Event Description

MIKE DILLON
featuring members of New Orleans sensation YOJIMBO
with Don Hoser, and M.C. Silver Ice

After 25 years of constant touring,Vibraphonist Mike Dillon has started another project. This outfit has learned over three hours of music that the percussionist has played at various points of his career. No matter If the band is playing old school flavored hip hop jam "bullsnake" from the Billy Goat days or "Omar" from the latest Garage A Trois record, music lovers attending the show will be compelled to get dancing as the amazing Carly Meyers blows minds with her trombone energy! Drummer Radom G, beats his drums with the fury of a young punk rock drummer yet has the finesse of a funk drummer due to years of study with Stanton Moore. Bru Brusser from Government Majik holds down the low end Landscape! The Band will also be playing unreleased songs from the prolific songwriters hard drive.

FULL BIO
Mike Dillon (b. 1965, Houston TX) is best known as a vibraphonist, multi-percussionist, and songwriter for the bands Garage A Trois, The Dead Kenny G's and Critters Buggin, as well as the lead vocalist for Mike Dillon's Go-Go Jungle, Hairy Apes BMX and Billy Goat. In addition to his own projects, Dillon has performed, recorded and toured extensively with countless artists including, Les Claypool, Ani DiFranco, Polyphonic Spree, Brave Combo, Matt Chamberlain, Secret Chief's 3, Karl Denson, Steven Bernstein, Charlie Hunter, James Singleton, Johnny Vidocavich and George Porter Jr.

Dillon began studying drums at ten years old. Following high school where he was a percussionist in the Houston Youth Symphony, he was accepted into the renowned University of North Texas College of Music. Under the direction Dr. Robert Schietroma at UNT, Dillon became a versatile percussionist and a member of the program's highly-esteemed One O'Clock Jazz Band, drum line, and percussion ensembles. Since 1990, Dillon has been devoted to the study of vibraphone and tabla drumming, working intensely with Indian tabla master, Aloke Dutta, and jazz vibraphonist, Bill Ware, of the Jazz Passengers. Reflected in the music he plays and composes are his vast musical influences spanning jazz greats Milt Jackson, John Coltrane and Thelonious Monk, singer-songwriters artists, Nick Drake and Elliot Smith, and hardcore punk bands such as The Minutemen, Mr. Bungle and Bad Brains.

Dillon currently resides in New Orleans, Louisiana with his sassy vixen, Miss J, and curious feline friend, Critter, but his boundless energy and busy touring schedule keeps him on the road nearly 300 days of the year.
