Anne Enright with Meghan O'Rourke: Storytelling from the Periphery

Man Booker Prize-winning author Anne Enright “possesses an unusual combination of talents,” says The New Yorker's James Wood. “She is a rich, lyrical prose writer, who cascades among novelties—again and again, she finds the unexpected adjective, the just noun.” In recent novels such as The Green Road and The Forgotten Waltz, Enright deploys that beguiling literary touch to a hard-headed search for both the melancholy and the comic among the fissures that tear at the hearts of family lives. And setting those stories within the context of the strife that has contributed so much to the history of her native Ireland, Enright is one of her country’s great masters. She is joined by writer, poet, editor, and literary critic Meghan O'Rourke, who has herself turned an unflinching eye on the agonies and the intimacies of family life and loss.
