Basic Mediation Skills Training

Join AAMS for our 25-hour Basic Mediation Skills Training and learn the art of conflict resolution!

Whether you are involved in human resources, education, legal services or arts administration, wish to develop your interpersonal skills, help your community, or are starting out on a new career path, you will find this Basic Mediation Skills Training indispensable.

Topics covered in our training include:



  • Communication and active listening skills

  • Problem identification and disagreement management skills

  • Techniques for breaking impasse

  • How to de-escalate tense interpersonal situations and deal with high conflict personalities


Trainers and speakers:



  • AAMS mediators Carole Aragon & Kathryn Marshall (among others)

  • CLA Associate Director & AAMS Program Director, Rebecca Ruschell
    AAMS Program Coordinator, Aaron Larks-Stanford

  • Darren Held of Held2gether Improv for life, will lead a special improv workshop, "Using Improv to Get to Yes!"


This training, along with observation of a 3-hour mediation with AAMS or another DRPA provider, meets the classroom and practical portion minimum required to provide services at a DRPA funded program.

DATE/TIME: Thursday, June 7 and Friday, June 9, 2018, 8:30am - 5:30pm

Saturday, June 9, 8:30am - 5:00pm

TRAINING FEES: $275 early bird registration by May 17, 2018; $300 after May 17, 2018;

Registration ends Friday, June 1.


Additional $150 for 22 hours of MCLE credit (1 hour of Ethics)
