Event Description
Shirley Alston Reeves, orig lead of The Shirelles

Formed in 1957 in Passaic, New Jersey, The Shirelles were one of the first and certainly among the very best of the girl groups of their era.  Inspired by The Chantels, The Flamingos and Little Anthony & The Imperials, Shirley and her namesake group went on to achieve a level of international attention and chart success that surpassed many of the group's predecessors.  John Lennon proclaimed the Shirelles his favorite group and paid homage with his fellow moptops by covering a couple of the girls' early recordings.  From 1960 to 1963, The Shirelles charted a dozen Top 40 singles.  With their innocent yet soulful vocal style and flawless production, the group's original hit recordings stand the test of time, still being used in countless movies, TV shows and commercials.  Their classic “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” was the first #1 hit for songwriters Gerry Goffin and Carole King and the follow up, “Soldier Boy”, also topped the charts.  Their hits that are the stuff that soundtracks are made of - “Boys”, “Everybody Loves a Lover”, “Tonight’s the Night”, “Dedicated to the One I Love” and “Baby It’s You,” one of the earliest collaborations between songwriters Burt Bacharach and Hal David.  Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and forever revered by fans and artists alike, Shirley Alston Reeves remains one of the best-loved artists on the circuit today.  Spend an intimate evening with a legend on October 28.

Special guests, back by popular demand, Lola & the Saints.
