Key-note Speaker Harold Empey, Creator of the Just in Case Binder

Harold Empey presentation outlines many questions individuals and couples need to deal with and help just in case.. something happens.  During Harold’s life he had a few health issues, and as a couple Harold and Betty planned how she would get-on-after Harold passed on.  In an effort to ensure Betty had all the info she’d need they both worked on their Just in Case binder, listing assets, want needs, obituary information, passwords, key codes and more.  Harold will be the first to tell you that after the shock of when Betty passed away, it was such a relief that most of the arrangements and details were all taken care of.  Much more than funeral plans this manual reminds the reader to think of other things, computer passwords, where is the Will, who are the friends and relatives that need to be notified, and the list goes on.  It was a tremendous help to Harold and his family when Betty passed away so he decided to make it available to others as a legacy to his wonderful wife.

For the spouse or children or executor - if they are left to phone your lawyer, doctor or carry out your funeral plans – would they know who to call, where to start or even what you want?  The package is a very comprehensive combination of information with a listing of what should be done, in advance, to facilitate a smooth and less painful period for the family following a death.  Rather than having to make a huge number of decisions during a time of grief, almost all were pre-determined and agreed to by the family, making the discussions with the funeral home and Minister clear and without family conflict.

Harold, a retired executive with Federated Co-op has been presenting to communities across Saskatchewan those who have seen and used the material have been very impressed with the result that almost 7000 have been purchased and many have completed the task and now have "peace of mind".
