Special Sneak Peek!
With Director Jeff Radice in person, Q & A and reception following
The story of the famous Pirate pitcher who threw a no-hitter while tripping on acid has become emblematic of professional baseball’s excess in the 1970s. However, that pitcher, Dock Ellis, had a career and a life that transcended one use of LSD. This acclaimed film from Sundance provides the backstory to an outrageous anecdote about a unique baseball player and human being. Forty years ago Ellis was brash and unapologetic – and referred to as one of the most unabashedly “black” baseball players ever. Yet he touched the lives of many, as we see in this surprising story of redemption. (Jeffrey Radice; USA; 2014; 100 min)
