Event Description

Cooking demos for kids ages 8-12 from Legume's Chef Trevett Hooper as well as our butcher, pastry chef, high school student Hannah Foley and more. Kids will learn to cook some of Legume's favorite kid-friendly dishes, then help to prepare lunch and eat! Parents are welcome to hang out as well.


All ticket sales go to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

Kids' Day is part of a broader campaign called Kids and Chefs Cook for Success which aims to emphasize the importance of conscious food selections in a healthy lifestyle and to inspire families to incorporate more careful and healthful cooking in their lives as they build basic cooking skills. Kids & Chefs Cook for Success Inaugural Program Launches: Featuring Kids' Day at Legume


Hannah Foley, Healthy Lunchtime Challenge Winner for Pennsylvania pairs with Chef Trevett Hooper of Legume to Conduct Cooking Demonstration


Following the success of the third annual Healthy Lunchtime Challenge and Kids’ “State Dinner”, a nationwide recipe contest to promote lunches as part of Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative, a new program sponsored by Epicurious.com launches this fall, pairing the 2014 winners with local chefs.


As part of the initiative, Kids & Chefs Cook for Success brings together the talents of the 54 kids that won this year’s contest with local chefs for educational cooking demonstrations. Hannah Foley of Grove City and Chef Trevett Hooper of Legume have already worked together in her 6th grade classroom in Grove City Area Middle School to teach simple and nourishing recipes from Chef Hooper.
