Event Description
Gold Badge Bouts

MONROEVILLE - Bridging a growing and damaging gap between young people, their communities and the police who serve and protect them is the mission of a new Pittsburgh-area organization – Global Glorious Productions.

That mission will be highlighted during a daylong event – The Golden Badge Bouts - Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Monroeville Convention Center.  The fun starts at 10:00am with a Classic Car Show and other festivities.  The boxing will begin at 3:00pm and Johnny Angel and the Halos will take the stage at 7:30pm.

The group springs from the passion and commitment of the Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League and its long affiliation with Golden Gloves Boxing.

Global Glorious principals include CEO Gloria Stukowksi, COO Jim Cvetic and CFO Victor Olive. Cvetic, a retired Allegheny County detective, founded the WPAL, Stukowski is the head of boxing officials and Olive is WPAL’s business manager.

Given recent unrest in several American cities as the result of citizens and police clashing, Olive says there is a “new urgency to repair the disconnect.”  He further stated that Global Glorious Productions has teamed up with WPAL to instill positive core values in our youth to become better citizens.

The WPAL slogan “Always for the Kids”  works to make sure that young people stay free of drugs and violence and encourages them to interact with the law enforcement, build strong bonds with police and strengthen confidence to achieve great expectations.

To that end, seven boxing/weightlifting gyms have been opened and are operating under the WPAL and the eighth is ready to open in DuBois all free to the youth of our communities.

The Gold Badge will be the group’s first boxing promotion under the entity of Global Glorious Productions.  It will feature 12 bouts of the best in amateur boxing .

Global Glorious Productions’ efforts are much more than a one-day affair.  The mission is to make the world a better place.

It is also working on a mini-series, “The Candy and Glow Show,” through Public Television Network station WQED in Pittsburgh. The show will emphasize values and empower virtues that young people may realize to help them make good decisions in everyday situations.

The tournament, the mini-series, the boxing facility – all that Global Glorious and WPAL does or plans to do – is dedicated to “making the world a better place” without question or hesitation.  Simply put, everything they are committed to is well established as “The right thing to do”.

Olive said Global Glorious, which is headquartered in the Monroeville Mall,  is reaching out to school districts and superintendents, police, Greater Pittsburgh community and surrounding suburbs to come together and turn the tide against hatred and violence that imperil young people’s futures.

The Gold Badge Bouts will be held at the Monroeville Convention Center on Mall Boulevard doors for this event will open at 10:00am.  The event will feature:  The best in amateur boxing, a classic car show, live performance by Johnny Angel and the Halos.  Tickets for this event start at $20 and can be purchased at www.showclix.com/event/GoldBadgeBouts or by contacting Jimmy Cvetic at (412) 298-7373
