George Vosburgh and Thomas Thompson, Co-Directors
Stephen Story, Associate Director
Donna Amato, piano
Sandon Lohr, horn

The Carnegie Mellon Wind Ensemble will feature Olivier Messiaen's Oiseaux exotiques with faculty member Donna Amato on piano. Robert Fallon, Assistant Professor of Musicology, will provide a pre-performance lecture about the Messiaen. Also featured on this concert will be Sandon Lohr as soloist on Jan Van der Roost's Rhapsody for Horn, Winds and Percussion. Lohr is the 2012 Wind Ensemble Competition winner. Additional repertoire to be performed.

$5 general admission. Students free w/ valid ID.

The Carnegie Mellon Wind Ensemble is designed to have a single performer on each instrumental part, emulating the orchestral wind section. This helps musicians develop an orchestral tone color, maximizes personal responsibility, and encourages a chamber music style of playing even in a large ensemble setting.
