Event Description

Includes the following films:

Variety

1983. USA. Directed by Bette Gordon. With Sandy McLeod. Christine takes a job selling tickets at a porn theater near Times Square, and what unfolds is an allegory about female empowerment in connection to how men experience women on film. Variety, Gordon’s feature directorial debut, was shown at the Cannes Film Festival Director’s Fortnight. Preserved with support from NYWIFT’s Women’s Film Preservation Fund. 100 min.

Desire Pie

1976. USA. Directed by Lisa Crafts. Desire Pie was created when sexual liberation and the power of the women’s movement gave women permission to express their sexuality in art. Preserved with support from NYWIFT’s Women’s Film Preservation Fund. 5 min.
