The Student Nurses

1970. USA. Directed by Stephanie Rothman. Screenplay by Rothman, Don Spencer, Charles S. Swartz. Rothman is the only woman to direct a Roger Corman production, and this is the first in her popular Nurses cycle of exploitation films. Despite working within the confines of the exploitation genre, Rothman introduced feminist ideas and subjects into her work. Preservation courtesy Cinema Conservancy, with support from NYWIFT’s Women’s Film Preservation Fund. 89 min.

Anything You Want to Be

1971. USA. Directed by Liane Brandon. An early and popular consciousness-raising film of the modern Women’s Movement, it was also one of the first to explore the internal and external pressures a girl confronts in finding her identity. Preserved with support from NYWIFT’s Women’s Film Preservation Fund. 20 min.
