Information on Concert

On Saturday August 2, 2014 Midwest Veterans Association Inc. will host the inaugural event at Vermillion Regional Airport in Danville. Dubbed the name “Country Music’s hardest working Man”, AARON TIPPIN will headline the concert. TIPPIN, aside from his string of hits spanning over 3 decades, he is an avid pilot, and a huge supporter of our military. From his patriotic anthem, “Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagles Fly”, to his hits from the early 90’s such as “They’re Ain’t Nothing Wrong with the Radio”, TIPPIN is a perfect fit for the overall feel of the event. When approached, TIPPIN did not bat an eye to cut personal vacation time short to fly in for the event.  His high energy live show, keeps him on the road over 70 dates a year.

Sony Nashville recording artist ANGIE JOHNSON will open for TIPPIN. JOHNSON whose debut single “Swagger” was released in 2012, is mostly known for her time on Season 2 of NBC’S “The Voice” and for a  video that went viral of her and her performing ADELE’S “Rolling in the Deep” while deployed in Afghanistan as an intelligence analyst for the United States Air Force. JOHNSON is now no longer in active duty status but remains as part of the Air National Guard Band  and one weekend a month, she and her band can be found entertaining  military and their families across the globe.

Local act THE CRUSE BROTHERS will open the evening acoustically in which they will perform a song specifically written for Midwest Veterans Association Inc. The concert will end a day full of many other events throughout the day at Vermillion Regional Airport. The annual Thunder Ride will take place earlier in the day and the drawing for the HOMEWARD BOUND TRUCK will take place at 7:00pm that evening. Midwest Veterans Association was founded in October of 2012. Their mission is to raise awareness and funding, either monetarily or by donation, assisting numerous organizations in eradicating homelessness amongst our Veterans within the 34 counties from Central Illinois to Western Indiana.
