Honey Spine CD Release Party

Honey Spine is comprised of  individuals based in Western New York who have been making their own noise for a number of years. In January, their ventures and musings found them intertwined in a musical trio, looking for nothing but the soul, expression of the self, and their own interpretation of art.

At the heart of the musical entity Honey Spine, pumps two self-taught musicians utilizing their medium to express what they have seen through days and have experienced at night. The progressive folk duo consists of Brian Chieco on banjo/banjo-ukulele/vocals, and Tim Martin on guitar/vocals. Their passion lies in raw expression through technical prowess, tight melodic harmonies and lyricism that has a story to tell. They strive to push the boundaries of what is possible in conveying their thoughts and emotions, all of which are true and hold space and time like a photograph, yet are constantly evolving due to the growth and evolution within the band.

Their music emulates the dichotomistic characteristic of their name, Honey Spine: something sweet and something prickly, something good versus something bad, something black, something white, something wrong, something right. In their music, they balance often upbeat, racous music with heavy and or dark lyricism, pointing out humans dualistic nature.

Tim and Brian First met and connected at a local Fredonia teahouse, blending well through instrumentation, only to find six months later after Tim's journey to Asheville North Carolina, that lyrically and vocally they clicked. After a few more months of late night conversations about their philosophy on music, they experienced what they now call "The Moment of Divinity", where the lyrics and music were channeled through them, resulting in the creation of their first song. Since then, they find themselves with three tours to New York City, four music festivals, and countless other shows in various cities on their resume.

When it comes down to it, the experience of traveling, meeting new people and expressing their passion to eager ears is the pinnacle of their experience here.
