A riotously funny satire on small-town Czechoslovakia under Communism, featuring brilliant acting, the film provoked much controversy and legal action. The uproar brought Forman to Paris during the Soviet invasion of 1968, and he wisely decided to stay in the West. In Czech; English subtitles. 73 min.
