A Place of Truth / German Animation

A Place of Truth

Name a price.  Pick a subject.  Get a poem.  That's the message on the curbside table of 21-year-old Abi Mott, a street poet who travels from city to city sharing moments of joy with strangers and passersby.  This magical film takes Abi from her hometown of Lancaster, PA, to a yoga festival in New Mexico, and then to San Francisco where, inspired and mentored by a street poet, she gets her start in the poetry busking world. Focusing on Abi's adventures in New York City and New Orleans, the film explores intersecting themes of art, commerce, love and authenticity.

Little Plastic Figure

The directing team of Samo-Sama (Anna Bergmann & Veronika Samartseva) have come up with an animated short that's as fun as it is interesting.  Even heroes are sometimes hungry, and this film explores that fact in four quick, spellbinding minutes.

Maison Sonore

A beautiful stop motion short film that includes elements of a unique, strange, dark, and perhaps oppressive atmosphere.

Olgastrasse 18

Watch as this artistic time lapse takes you through a generation or two as we view a mysterious story of a flat and its residents.

Out On A Limb

Why can't we be friends?!  A story about a bird, the Autumn season, and the bird's favorite limb.  Part of our Festival spotlight on German animation.

Atlas

Atlas, leader of the Titans, is sentenced by the Olympian Gods to hold up the sky above the Earth - a heavy punishment with unforeseen consequences.

Trapped

Fox and Rabbit live in an everlasting conflict.  However, one day, they’ve got to stand united against an even stronger opponent who is threatening them both. One thing leads to another – and the time of revenge has come for the feeble Bird, who has been harmed and mocked by everyone.

Raven Boy

Rabenjunge (Raven Boy), who is despised by the boys of the village, meets a beautiful girl one day.  The expressions and movements of the dolls, captured using live-action filming against the background of a handmade stage (consisting of materials such as wood chips and grass), undergo CG synthesis to create a mysterious world that transcends the boundaries between analog and digital.
