ECLECTIC. ELECTRIC. GENRE-DEFYING MUSIC.
Join us for three nights only Jan. 24-26 at the Wood Street Galleries for a night of music you won't soon forget.
Jan. 24 - 10 pm (Special Post-Gallery Crawl Performance)
Jan. 25 - 8 pm
Jan. 26 - 2 pm
The journey begins with Ingram Marshall's evocative and contemplative Entrada (At the River), followed by a truly iconic 20th century work for string quartet by Steve Reich. Different Trains is a powerful piece of documentary-music that ponders the composer's cross-country train journeys as a child juxtaposed against concurrent train journeys in Europe transporting Jews to concentration camps. You can watch a brief interview with the composer on Youtube here.
The concert concludes with FSQ joining the Symbiotic Chamber Orchestra with The Ghost & Mr. Able, a new work by Pittsburgh composer and musician Sean Neukom, Ghost introduces a language steeped in the traditions of orchestral composers, pop artists, and rock bands, but moves forward from there rather than existing merely through those idioms. You can stream the entire work at our website here.
Don't miss the rest of the season--five concerts of great chamber music!
