Actress (UK)
In the halfway point between London’s underground and somewhere in deep outer space lies the prolific producer known as Actress. Three highly acclaimed LPs and over a half-dozen EPs into his career, Darren J. Cunningham has cemented himself in the electronic music scene as a producer that makes his own rules, then breaks them. Associating himself with NonPlus, Honest Jon’s, Ninja Tune, and co-founding WerkDiscs he is within the highest echelon of club music.

Jimmy Edgar (GE/US)
Jimmy Edgar is a renaissance man of talent, ideas, and style beyond his years. At 29, the Berlin-based Detroit native with a mischievous mystique has been a prolific artist and musician for two thirds of his enchanted life. Sonically, he's fluent in a myriad of vernaculars, from "software as music" and glitchy underground Hip Hop to his signature glossy, erotically charged robot funk. Visually, he's established himself as an in-demand director, photographer, and multimedia artist with an impressive roster of videos, exhibits, and magazine work to his credit.

Jason Burns (US)
Garnering support from Toddla T, Worthy, Distal, Salva, B.Traits, Kry Wolf, Kastle and the legendary King Britt, Jason Burns has quickly become your favorite producer's favorite producer. The Ohio-bred, Portland-based artist has earned the ear of his peers by carefully creating an alchemic fusion of garage, house and bass music shrouded in beautiful R&B style melodies.

More recently, Burns has remained busy in the studio - crafting EPs on both the Sounds of Sumo and Symbols imprints, as well as his well-received remix of Natasha Kmeto's "Pleasure Delay". While the prolific producer continues to receive widespread acclaim both stateside and abroad, his drive for perfection in the production realm will prove to keep his star shining as we approach the future and beyond.

Her tracks are sleek and energetic affairs, straddling the line between dance, pop, and RnB. Natasha has a long list of notable live performances under her belt, including gigs at Coachella, SXSW, Low End Theory (LA and SF) and Decibel Festival. She has shared the stage with a number of talented artists as well, including, Kid Cudi, Plaid, Gold Panda, Dam Funk, Shlohmo, Shigeto, and Morcheeba, just to name a few. VISUALS /// Ian Brill / Transmission (US)
Ian Brill's work focuses on the accumulation of form through process. Through the creation of interactive, performative and multi-sensorial environments, he considers boundaries of becoming (versus being) in our relationships with technology. His installations, performances, and writing have been presented internationally, and currently he teaches at Penn State University's World Campus and the Community College of Beaver County.

Ian will present a unique configuration of his "Transmission" environment for VIA Thursday at the Rex with Actress, Jimmy Edgar, Natasha Kmeto, and Jason Burns. Extending the work's programmatic behavior to simultaneously respond to both live performers and improvisational cues, affectively painting the space with an intelligent, minimalist landscape of motion, and gesture.

"Transmission" is a series of audiovisual environments that explore the flickering moments between absolute emptiness and perceived life. Through a spectacle of low-resolution, immersive projections, and generative, spatialized, light and sound gestures a need for illusion is both perpetuated and met. Transmission is as much a celebration of our ability to interpret sensory information as it is grounds for both human error and wonderment.
