Anticipating King Vidor’s 1928 The Crowd, Dwan shot on the streets of New York (some simulated) and added some non-glamorous dimensions to Swanson’s screen image as just "one of the mob." As Fred Lombardi says, by now the director and actress had established themselves as a “winning team,” and Swanson considered Dwan "a genius." Silent, with musical accompaniment. 77 min.
