Best known as a co-founding member of original Parliament/Funkadelic as well as for his work with Talking Heads, colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains (see BernieWorrell.com) now Keyboard Maestro, Bernie Worrell has turned out a jazz album -- "Bernie Worrell: Standards" and is showcasing the Bernie Worrell Orchestra.

Focus your ears on Bernie's playing and you'll hear a comprehensive sonic montage of a vibrantly creative spirit. His music is rife with wit, aggression, sensitivity and mischief, all of it interspersed in a tangential stream of consciousness. This is no series of contradictions, however; rather, these are the nuanced components of a man, all of them coalesced into an organic pastiche that is at once both delightfully whimsical and timelessly wise. There is an undeniably lyrical quality to his playing - not so much in any narrative sense as in the capacity to express feelings through his dexterous sound sculpture. In this configuration, Bernie has added nine musicians - The Bernie Worrell Orchestra.
